A Superbowl Victory for America

Two great drives, two great teams, one great night for football.

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ok, Sierra, I did my 10 pushups. And to Kevin Daye, no I will not be cleaning your golf clubs the next time we play because we didn't bet. Mad props to your team though.

The Steelers played their typical smashmouth game. It wasn't pretty, but it was effective. They kept coming at Phoenix for sixty minutes and they willed themselves into a victory.

To the Phoenix Cardinals, a team that had been called "the worst playoff team ever," your hearts and talents proved everyone wrong. You have a world-class team and you deserve big honors for your performances throughout the playoffs. My heart especially goes out to Larry Fitzgerald Jr., who played a brilliant game and scored what could have been the winning touchdown if not for the Steelers' last minute heroics. Fitzgerald, who hasn't cut his dreads since losing his dear mother Carol to breast cancer in 2003, played like Sampson. If they had found a way to get him the ball earlier in the game the outcome could have been a lot different. He was clearly playing inspired football. With my wife as my witness, I actually called the drive and touchdown play that put them ahead, but did not count on Big Ben to pull it out with seconds remaining. But that's Steeler football. Go hard for all sixty minutes and go home with the trophy.

It was a great game, with equally good musical performances by The Boss, Jennifer Hudson and Faith Hill. Tonight's game was all about heart, even for Jennifer, who lost family members recently to violence. It was a Super Bowl for America. No matter what side you rooted for, you couldn't help but feel happy to be a part of it.

And Kevin, out of respect for your boys and because they finally have more rings than the Cowboys, maybe, just maybe I'll be your caddy on one hole next time we tee it up.
